God has spoken to me in many different ways over the years. Some being a bit unlikely. A scripture about this is 1 Corinthians 1:27 , God uses whomever he will use. The ability to hear is from him. One place that isn’t unlikely to me anymore, but might surprise you, is young children like my neighbor’s 5 year old boy, and my own son, from when he was as young as 4 years old. Add to this that he has a disorder that effects communication. He struggles to understand what is being said to him, and we who take the time, struggle to understand what he is saying. I don’t know if there ever was a time where I didn’t hear him the way I do now. I don’t know when exactly it began. I hear my son as though listening to poetry. It stems from the fact that he is very unique. The necessity therefore has been to discover who HE is.

The story that comes to mind today is the songs he has been drawn to. We have a CD that is permanently in the CD Player of our van. He is my DJ whenever we’re out and about. Cheryl sits in the back, he sits shotgun, as I drive. He has all the numbers of the songs he likes to hear memorized. It’s a home made MP3 disk, so there’s no titles on the screen, just track numbers.

  1. Pray For The Fish – Randy Travis
  2. Jerusalem’s Cry – Randy Travis
  3. Giants Fall – Miracle of Sound

My prayer life of late, and by that I mean my personal devotions, have been as they have always been, only more so lately. My time with God is in response to his “knocking on the door of my heart”. And the message that has emerged for me personally has been,

  1. Repent,
    • our action + his action = endangered fish
  2. We’re living in the end times
  3. God’s ready to kick butt !

In September 1996, fighting the giants in my own life, I could not express what was going on in my heart with straight forward words. I was sitting at the back of the church I was attending at that time, after the service, and I wrote out this BATTLE CRY. It doesn’t matter at this point what my Battle was, and I’ll leave that detail out. Your BATTLE is in your mind right now. Can God overcome the giant in my life? Yes, HE CAN.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (NIV)

Hebrews 5:11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand.

  • 11 About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. (ESV)
  • 11 We have a great deal to say about this, and it is difficult to explain, since you have become too lazy to understand. (CSB)

12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (NIV)

  • 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. (ESV)
